Biography
Professor Nicholson teaches in the Global Environmental Politics program. His research focuses on the politics of global food and agriculture, and on issues involving emerging technologies. He has served as a lecturer and Director of Clinical Legal Education at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, has taught for the National Student Leadership Conference, and in 2006 was a Visiting Lecturer on the University of Virginia's Semester at Sea Program. Professor Nicholson has also been the recipient of multiple research scholarships and grants. These have included a Fulbright award and workshop grants from the Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) and the Switzerland-based Oikos Foundation. He is currently a non-resident senior fellow, focusing on agriculture and energy issues, at the Centro de Estudios Estratégicos Latinoamericanos (CEELAT) in Bogotá, Colombia, and speaks regularly in the United States and abroad about issues to do with the environment and the global food system. Professor Nicholson received his Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Waikato, New Zealand, and is expecting his Ph.D. from American University's School of International Service in late 2008.
