Sharon K. Weiner's research interests focus on security and the interface between institutional design, bureaucratic politics, and U.S. defense and foreign policy. For 2001-2003 she received a “Scholar of Vision” award from the Carnegie Corporation of New York for research and writing that analyzes joint U.S.-Russian efforts to control the proliferation of weapons experts and materials from the former Soviet nuclear and biological weapons complexes. Weiner is the author of book chapters and journal articles in leading foreign policy publications. She holds a PhD in Political Science from MIT and comes to the School of International Service from her position as a Research Associate with the Woodrow Wilson School’s Program on Science and Global Security at Princeton University. From 1988 to 1990, she worked as a staff assistant for the Armed Services Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives.
