Background
PDI undertakes every effort to make the Summer Institute as affordable as possible. In fact, we have not raised the tuition rate in the last five years. However, the cost of attending the Summer Institute can still be quite substantial. Participants pay $735 tuition per course, a minimum of $300 per week for housing, and often as much as $1,500 for airfare. These costs can constitute a major burden for many participants, especially those who come from countries in conflict or transition. Unfortunately, this means that a number of fully qualified applicants are unable to participate each year.

What We Are Asking
PDI is able to provide several need-based scholarships to the Summer Institute each year. As you can imagine, these resources can only go so far. PDI is looking for individuals and organizations who are willing to contribute financially to a general scholarship fund. These funds will be allocated to create additional scholarships that will help reduce the financial burden for Summer Institute participants from countries that are experiencing conflict or undergoing transition.
