Our Trainings & Symposia are specialized programs designed for professionals in the public and private sectors. They aim to provide participants with practical skills, knowledge, and ideas to enhance the discourse on specialized topics. Symposia topics include: religion, health, gender, business, human security, and humanitarian aid, as they pertain to conflict.
The
Peacebuilding & Development Institute's Humanitarian Practice program
aims to prepare the next generation and current practitioners to adequately
and accountably respond to complex emergencies around the world.
The American University's Peacebuilding & Development Institute-sponsored Symposium on New Humanitarian Responses to the Global Economic Crisis will bring professionals together from aid agencies to brainstorm about lessons from the past and new ways to respond to the humanitarian impact of the current crisis.
The goal is to propose a wide, and necessarily unconventional, range of interventions. The challenge put to participants will be to “not tell us what you’re doing today, but what we should do in the future.”
