Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Carlos III) is proud of its reputation for being an institution where respect for others and the environment is a priority and whose students embody these principles as they assume responsibility for contributing to a world of greater fairness and solidarity. Carlos III is a public university, which means that while providing exceptional academic instruction, it also offers services that help students become qualified professionals with extensive practical field experience. It is also the first university on the continent to have become completely adapted to the European Higher Education Area, a designation that allows its courses and programs to be validated throughout Europe.

Students who participate in this one-semester program sit beside Carlos III's graduate population in the Master in European Law Program. With Carlos III being recognized as one of Europe's leading institutions in European Union law, students are challenged in courses that cover the following subject areas:

  • Economic Policies of the EU
  • Human Rights of the EU
  • European and Spanish Foreign Policy
  • Political Governance in the EU
  • International Organizations in the 21st Century

Students also have the opportunity to work in internship positions in Madrid. Carlos III strongly supports the integration of its students with the professional world and operates a Career Guidance Center that assists students in finding positions that both fit their interests and provide them with a truly rewarding experience.

Students must have proficiency in Spanish in order to participate in this program.

Madrid is considered one of the major financial centers of the Iberian Peninsula and hosts the head offices of many of the major Spanish companies as well as the headquarters of three of the world's 100 largest companies. While the city has a modern infrastructure, it has preserved the look and feel of many of its historic neighborhoods and streets, which makes it an ideal overseas study location.

Fall 2009 application deadline:  April 6
