Guidelines for Submission
Authors must be Masters or Ph.D. students from SIS or alum whose graduation date is no longer than a year before the deadline for submissions. We accept papers from all tracks at SIS and every attempt is made to publish articles from each program in every issue.
Style
1) Articles must be between 5,000 - 8,000 words.
2) Use footnotes adhering to the Chicago Manual of Style.
3)
Please include a short biography of the author and a 1 paragraph abstract of the article as a separate document.
4) Please use American spelling (defense, mobilization, armor, etc.). Foreign spellings should be retained only in quoted material, titles, or names. Consult The Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition, on usage, format, punctuation and description of the treatment of foreign words.
5) The use of headings and subheadings is encouraged, particularly in longer articles, to help the reader follow your argument.
6) References to “us” and “them” should be avoided in favor of specific reference to “U.S. allies,” “the Japanese economy,” “NATO budgets,” and the like.
All submissions are blind review; do not have any identifying information on the submission, however, please provide contact information so we can provide feedback.
The Deadline for the Fall 2008 Issue is October 31st.
Please send all submissions to swords.ploughshares@gmail.com with the subject: "ATTN: FALL 2008 S&P SUBMISSION" |
