The following services and resources are available on campus. As the university continues to monitor the developments around COVID-19, we will provide updates and make adjustments.
Bender Library is currently closed to the public and operating in a virtual function. During this time, there will be limited staff on-site to scan and deliver materials electronically requested by students. Detailed requests for materials can be placed through the library catalog or emailed to email@example.com.
Dining Services have concluded for the spring semester. There will be no locations open for the summer. EagleBucks are available for your enjoyment throughout the summer.
For a list of merchants currently open, please visit https://acceptinglocations.com/eaglebucks/
We will continue to provide dining services updates on a regular basis.
Counseling Center triage hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Please contact AUCC ProtoCall Services (at 202-885-7979) if requiring urgent assistance outside of these hours.
Students seeking assistance with non-medical concerns about COVID-19 can contact the Counseling Center remotely as in-person services are suspended at this time. Please follow this link to access AUCC triage services.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to seek support via the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) which is confidential and makes professional personal counseling services available to all full-time and part-time faculty and staff members and their immediate families. Contact Dale Rampell at FSAP@american.edu or 202-885-2593.
Student Health Center
If you or a family member has had a potential COVID-19 exposure as outlined by the CDC, please call (202) 885-7777 or email SHCcoronavirus@american.edu for further instructions. Please call ahead of time rather than coming directly to the Student Health Center or making an appointment online. Messages will be checked Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If it is after 5 p.m. on a weekday or a weekend and students have concerns or questions, they should call the Nurse Advice line at 833-381-8545.
Mail and Packages
USPS packages received for students will be forwarded to their permanent address. Students should ensure their forwarding address is up to date or visit the MyAU portal to update it. All deliveries from FedEx, UPS, Amazon Prime, DHL, and LaserShip will be returned to sender.
Faculty and Staff
During the COVID-19-related suspension of regular activities, all packages delivered to campus will be rerouted temporarily to Mail Services. This applies to packages delivered by USPS, Federal Express, UPS, DHS, Amazon Prime, and WB Mason.
Mail Services will only deliver to open offices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, packages may be picked up from Mail Services (on 3201 New Mexico Ave. NW) Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
While representatives from the various courier services have been notified of the temporary address change, Mail Services nevertheless asks that all offices throughout the university place a sign on their doors instructing couriers to deliver packages to Mail Services.
We also ask that during this time, you order only essential items. If you must place any orders for delivery, be sure to use the following address along with your department name:
3201 New Mexico Ave. NW B2
Washington, DC 20016-8048
If you have additional questions, please contact Siraaj Abdullah at firstname.lastname@example.org in Mail Services.
