Based on the current university operating status, all AhealthyU in-person programs are canceled until further notice.

Here are some quick and easy stretching exercises that you can do during the day while teleworking:

  • Total Body: A full-body workout that incorporates body weight and a variety of equipment!
  • Yoga: With the use of breathing techniques, bodily postures, and meditation, you can help improve your health and relaxation.
  • Pilates: This class uses low-impact exercises and stretching that help strengthen your muscles and core.
  • Spin: Use stationary bikes to focus on endurance, strength, intervals and recovery to elevate heart rate.
  • Barre: Try a low impact workout that focuses on alignment, toning and endurance while incorporating moves derived from ballet.
  • Pickleball: A paddle ball sport which combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis, using a racket and plastic ball to volley over a low net.
  • Zumba: This class offers fun Latin-based dance moves to elevate heart rate and increase endurance.

More Information

  • Classes are first come, first served and have a limit of 30 participants. Spin is limited to 13 participants.
  • No class registration is required, but you must sign and submit an electronic AhealthyU exercise release form to participate.
  • Check-in for AhealthyU classes in Jacobs and Cassell Fitness Centers begin 15 minutes prior to the start of class at the front desk for either Jacobs or Cassell based on class location.
  • All participants must present their Staff AU ID card at the Fitness Center front desk for access to classes. Participants in all of AhealthyU's group exercise classes must follow Fitness Center rules and regulations. This includes arriving for classes in proper workout gear and footwear (no sandals or toed shoes).
  • Any bags brought to the fitness center must be stored in a locker. No bags are allowed on the floor of the gym or group exercise rooms or on top of any equipment or furniture in the fitness center.  
  • No classes will be held on Monday, January 20 and Monday, March 9 to Friday, March 13, 2020 (Spring Break).
  • Yoga at 4401 Connecticut Ave. meets from 12:15pm - 1:00pm. To enter the building, participants must bring their AU ID to obtain a
    visitor badge and pass through security. You must then contact Michelle Fleitz at x 5947 to be escorted to WAMU LL031.

  • Classes are no cost to faculty and staff with AU Recreational Sports and Fitness memberships. Learn how to become a RecFit member!
  • No cost for off-campus locations:
    • 4401 Connecticut Avenue
    • Spring Valley Building
    • East Campus
  • Non-members can attend classes held in the Jacobs and Cassell fitness centers for a $5 per class drop-in fee using cash, credit card, check, or Eagle Bucks. Drop-in fee allows access to class only. Fitness center shower and locker room access will not be available for drop-in participants. 

Enter through the main entrance (signed University Safety and Security Services). Go through the first door off the lobby to the left, past the guest bathroom. The double doors to T02 are right past that first door.
